    Game theory?
    Anyone who has ever been successful in negotiation knows that stuff, if not from book learning, then from experience.
    Also, demeanor is a key factor. Just watching Trump is a treat to a good negotiator.

    OK. I would agree with that. when I said demand, I just meant that if they dont perform, he removes them as employees. He only wants the best

    I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt, as always. It's hard to overlook 20+ years of NY moderate to left reputation, but I may have no choice but to try.

    Don't believe he "demands" but expects b/c he looks for employees who value excellence in themselves........if, after employment they do not, he faces his error in judgment and removes them. (Excellence is a self thing and can not be demanded, only encouraged, recognized and rewarded.) BT

    okay, AJ. . could you consider these two facts?

    DT is a committed family man, at least with his kids
    and current wife of 11 years.

    DT is also committed to financial success for his family --
    including grounding his kids in blue-collar knowledge.

    all else considered, would his tacit adoption of this
    nation's people as "his family" probably include some
    "fatherly" actions like these? . could he become committed to
    the people and work his ass off for their success,
    perhaps? . I bet that it's possible. -- j

    I worked for a time in a US Congressional office, the realities, no one is as good as they sound when campaigning. They all play games. I was for Rubio, my husband for Cruz, until both melted down and tried to woo the establishment. Cruz reminded me of Lyndon Johnson, never could have voted for him nor do I believe he is what he says. We are both happy with Trump.

    Trump understands the psychology of negotiations far better than any political figures in the last decade. He wouldn't announce a specific date of withdrawal of American forces, like Obama did, for Iraq. He also understands that walking away from a deal isn't necessarily failure, as when Reagan walked out on Gorbachev in the Reykjavik talks. To be successful in world affairs, a leader needs to project confidence and strength, more than anything else. He doesn't need to be a policy wonk, with an encyclopedic affinity for details, but he does need to be able to select the right people to provide that insight. Let's see what his proposed cabinet looks like.

    Last night he played Ted Cruz like a well tuned violin.

    Cruz put himself in a totally untenable position. Trump gave him all the rope Ted needed to hang himself with and Ted used every inch of it.

    Ted cannot endorse Trump now without looking like he is pandering for approval. Ted if he does not endorse has violated his oath/signed pledge to support the nominee proving Ted a liar hence Lying Ted.

    The delegation from Texas pretty much abandoned Ted now so Trump proved to be a great strategist. They KNEW what Ted was going to say and allowed him to play it out.

    There is nothing chaotic about this convention. Do not be fooled. Trump knows exactly how to work this out. Compare the "drama" of this convention to the WWE and how they carry on their storylines year after year and fans keep coming back for more.

    I am betting Hillary and her team are shaking in their boots like a Chihuahua trying to pinch a loaf the size of a peach pit..

    OK, I'll grant you that. I do think the down ballot vote is critical this election too. Didn't mean to say "hold your nose and vote" so much as "be sure and vote"!

    I fear that has already happened with at least half the people. Thats why Cruz crashed and burned. I think that the election would be 50-50 at this point between dems and repubs, and cruz only got 1/3 of the repub people to vote in the primary for him. That means to me that the consitutionalists number maybe 1/6 of the population. This is a disaster, but I think its close to true.

    My take on Trump is that he is really into excellence, and he imparted that to his kids. His properties are always the best, and he demands that from his employees. I loved the comment that he promotes people who have a PhD in common sense, and not necessarily from a university.

    In case you havent been up on current events, the constitution died sometime in the past. Its unfortunate, but the idea of standing on principle is incompatible with the rule of the mob we have now.

    Talk about game theory. This whole political thing is just one big game with a huge entry cost in terms of money and promises, but big payoffs later as you gete to spend some of the power that you get.

    Anything but another Clinton or Bush. Hildebeast would be an extension of Obama, but worse. I would hope that if elected, she would not go to other countries as our representative. She cared more about the protection of her career than the protection of our country. Very sad situation.

    Trump has had my vote since the beginning. At least he speaks his mind. More than I can say for Hillary.

    If Trump loses to the hildebeast, who I think is a FAR worse choice for our president, it will be because Hildebeast promises goodies to the masses that the rest of us have to pay for.
    Trump isnt offering that, and I fear that the country is way too far gone to accept anything less. And most of the people dont even know what the consititution is, which is why Cruz failed pretty miserable in this election.

    The constitution doesnt promise goodies in exchange for votes, it just alludes to promising opportunities for everyone.

    Interesting article. I do have to comment that while game theory can get you a better bargaining position, in the end its substance that will rule.

    I say that Trump probably does use game theory in negotiations, but he is very deliberate and thoughtful when making a final decision. If he werent, he would never have gotten to where he is in business.
    Also, this offspring are really impressive, and that just doesnt HAPPEN by itself.

    I would be very proud if those were MY children indeed.

    When I read of Trump being purposefully unpredictable caused me to think of the greatest samurai who ever lived, Miyamoto Musashi.
    Once he showed up hours late to one of his numerous duels to frustrate thus infuriate just another doomed opponent.
    I lost his "The Book of Five Rings" about martial arts strategies and tactics when I left my ex.
    Perhaps she hid it from me in order to study it.

    The total popular vote for Johnson (assuming it is uncorrupted by the GOPDem party) could be important to congress if neither GOPDem candidate gets an electoral majority.
