Innovation still is occurring.

Interesting concept. Sounds like something right out of the Jetson's. Well automobiles, airplanes, and personal computers where thought to be non-starters. Who's to say what the future holds.

This has been a problem people have been working on for over 100 years. Inductive coupling has been successful in those electric toothbrushes that appeared 20 years ago. It's now more common with the qi standard. I played around with it a little a few years ago. https://www.element14.com/community/g...
If there were some way to get this coupling over distance, it would be amazing.

    Who knows?
Who predicted that the future would revolve around computers? We of the 50s talked about space, flying cars, and while the Jetsons were a cartoon, they also reflected our view of the future. Instead we have phones that are computers and cameras and a watch all in one. The age of information and communication topped off by social media.

Growing up in the 50's and the promises of the future...I'm still waiting for a Real Flying Car...one that will go for more than a few min's or a few miles.
The next new innovation of automobiles should go for 1000's of miles.

Give em credit for the effort though.

Not interested in 23 min to fall, one person and billions of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Lately I've been thinking of a hover craft with flying capability, powered by a conventional gas or diesel motor the size of an SUV...should be cheaper to build than this little thing.

Thought of it while reading the post on "The last big frontier"...wouldn't even need a drive way...and makes No tracks to be tracked.

We have WiFi but laptops will never be wireless until you can get rid of the mains leed for good! So even if you have a low or dead battery there would be a way to charge it wirelessly. Interested!

If we had to rely on horses, I'm sure the attitude would be a bit different, especially after crossing the street through a mound of horse poop.

    Hello Thoritsu,
I have often wondered why we don't have private, lighter than air ships available to the public. Imagine something a bit more sophisticated than this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D63P...
Increase the size enough to allow for an enclosed cockpit for two plus some luggage and add a proper power/propulsion source. Looks like fun to me.
With a compressor and a tank you could deflate the envelope and re-inflate at will, allowing for compact storage.
    Regards,
    O.A.

So true. People with the funds would buy them, and we'd see how they work. Rather we'll have none of it, and if so, a ton of lawsuits for noise pollution and messing up someone's hair.

    Hello diessos,
Except for the special interests and regulation zealots there would already be many of them and the price would be much more affordable. I hope someday to see it. I would love to have one. I would like to see the range increased, the ability to take manual control, increase size and seating to at least two passengers and allow at least some minimal luggage capacity.
Thank's for bringing this to us.
    Respectfully,
    O.A.

the only innovation that I see is government coming up with new ways to screw businesses all over the world. governments are so deep into the business community today, certainly it has been a work in progress for 150 years here, longer in the rest of the world that is why they are all on the balls of their asses and now the government of the usa is making that happen here. pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that it is an idea whose time has almost come. It may take time for humanity to get used to the idea but there's no denying that such a device is a perfectly logical progression. At the turn of the 20th century most people couldn't afford an auto, and now, over 100 years later there's hardly a person without one or who lives for the day that they can have one. So it will be with this device or something similar to it.

Seeing this it occurs to me that it might be powerful to attach helium balloons in some form to drones. It would still be a drone, but with a portion of the heavy lifting done by buoyancy.

Note that this is illegal in every country. That is what kills invention. That is why this idea was not out 20 years earlier and probably will not be out for another 20 years. That is why this thing costs $300k,

Surprisingly, this looks very much like the evac helicopter idea I came up with for my game.

    I'd want one.

Yes. If the automobile was being introduced today, it would be considered unsafe. A 1-2 ton vehicle that can travel at high speeds and needs an explosive substance in order to operate. Too many people would be killed or injured. As a public safety issue it would not be allowed.
