It's should - of course. My typing sucks. I try to correct my often dyslexic spelling but eagerness overcomes caution. It's significance is that you might do well to not bother. Or, am I being too obtuse?
Thanks O.A., The toothless congress that obviously is filled with Rino's that likely defrauded their constituency to be elected seem to do nothing to stop the looters and statists from disregarding the law and it's intent. Best, DOB
Hello Dobrien, I like it. If we had a strong military with strong, principled executive leaders that say what they mean and mean what they say, we could have a strong defense and avoid much offense. All this bluster and chest pounding without substance is just more kabuki theater and our allies and enemies know it.
We just heard that our toothless congress is now unlikely to hold the IRS head (Koskinen) responsible for the abuses of the people they work for, which according to reports are still ongoing... Our government is worthless on both foreign and domestic fronts. Our Constitution is treated as a mere set of recommendations...
If the Constitution party could drop so much emphasis on "religious foundations and principles" they might gain more traction and could be a better third party option. If they stuck to the secular nature and emphasized the true character of the document as limiting and rejecting big government statism... Ah, but it is a wonderful dream. One day perhaps... if I live long enough, I would like to see it.
Good morning OA, These comments are not in disagreement with yours. I would prefer the military "practice" defending and restoring the US constitution versus puffing up their chests to impress the Chinese or N.Koreans. Maybe they would impress the collectivist Statists in our government to follow the law! First exercise would be to arrest the lawbreakers and enablers (DOJ). 2nd require US Government employees to answer to congressional oversight, if not they instantly forfeit any healthcare or retirement benefits provided by their employers (all of us) oh and they are fired!!! Warm Regards, DOB

MA is the only one I've had to Ignore, as 95% of his comments are tiresomely argumentative and a waste of my time. He's like a kid knocking down others' sandcastles for fun, instead of helping to build better ones. In short, there is no exchange of values.
In certain contexts I can un-ignore him again. Ignoring is tantamount to hiding. We don't need insults nor incoherence. I for one am relieved not to have MA's voluminous rambles splattered all over a thread and seeking to dominate every subject. If I'm curious, I can always bring him out of hiding. The few times I've done so have disappointed. His comments don't move topics forward; they create more heat than light. I'm grateful to management for damping that. Yes, it adds to my mental comfort here, and does not deprive others from still viewing his output.
We don't have to agree with everything that everyone says here. Disagreements don't need to be wrapped in insults. Variety is not only spice but stimulates our own deeper thinking. Let us remember, though, that in an unreasonable world this Gulch is a refuge of Reason where we can not only find intellectual solace but also seek solutions to the greater world problems.
And that brings us back to the main topic of this posting--can we find a physical hideaway for our persons and close ones to shield us from the harsh and destructive realities of the larger culture in which we are embedded? Should our government feel free to blow up someone else’s sparsely populated island, for war-making “practice”? Who “owns” that island? Isn’t it time humanity reached a mutual agreement to end wars forever? Wars are a throw-back to gaining through force, making others live for the victor’s sake. Not a good ethic, just continuous destruction.
As for seeking refuge, a tiny undeveloped island, no matter how idyllic, would require total overhaul for infrastructure and energy sources, and the technological advances humanity has achieved thanks to innovators like Gates and Musk. Or would you like to live like the Amish? And even they have good soil and enough horses, never mind the religious indoctrination.
Would a volcano-riddled island supply a reliable life support all by itself? I would rather stay where I am, where thousands of years of arduous human physical and mental effort have built a magnificent scientific world, and change the culture's corrupt value system conceptually from within. First step in that direction: vote for Gary Johnson.
My understanding is that the "ignore" option is for an individual user only. In other words, I can choose to ignore a particular member, but my selection does not affect others or what they see.
I noticed no response to my complaint I've long thought that was a one side deal anyway.
But for the record I didn't draw first blood. Just the most of it. Michael,

In the Fountainhead, Elsworth Toohey meets the hero, Howard Roark and tells him that he is the one who has kept him from getting the architectural jobs that shouls of been his. And then asks Roark, "What do you think of me, Mr. Roark?" Roark gives him the ultimate put-down.
You will have to go without them for sure before long.

It's what you get for sticking up for yourself and by the way NONE of my complaints were answered. When did the Gulch become a haven for left winig fascism?
It was a question asked of John Galt What do you thinki of me. That was his answer. The ultimate put down. Here you can just hit the ignore button when the subject material is not worth bothering about. Ignoring people is quite often the one thing they can't accept. The more you do it....the more it works.
It's significance is that you might do well to not bother. Or, am I being too obtuse?
What a beautiful place in that article. Let's blow it up...

So...apparently they are punishing Michael A. Well... if so, it's their blog.
