As usual, Time magazine absurdly exaggerates the title of the excerpt. Yes, they are owned by the same scum that own CNN.

John Stossel is giving good programming on FOX BUSINESS. Except for Hillary being a disaster that I dont want to upset my next 4 years, it was pretty convincing programming. Lets get rid of the rigged system so its actually possible for third party candidates to win, and push Libertarian candidates in the next elections. I will already vote for any libertarians I can this time (other than for president)

In order to end power, you have to get in power.
Sorry folks, but that is the only way. To date, there has been a small uprising of people who recognize their loss of freedom. Most of those who are a part of the uprising cannot point out its true cause and those who understand, are not particularly wise in the ways of politics today. They think that telling the truth will win in the long run. Unfortunately, that has gone by the wayside along with the buggy whip. Instead, you have to build a constituency based on what people want to hear, whether it is true or not. The minor uprising in politics that we currently are experiencing has given way to Donald J. Trump. He is not evil like the Clintons, but he lacks the understanding to do what is needed to reclaim the American ideals. But if he moves the needle slightly to the right, instead of the way Hillary will move it a lot to the left he will be the better choice. The old description of a "rock and a hard place" is apt. If Hillary is the rock, and we know what a rock is, then what is a "hard place?" We don't know as yet. Perhaps the hard place is softer than the rock. Perhaps it's harder. With the Clintons, we know what will happen, the hard place has yet to be described.

The prospects do not look good, but it may take a descent into the Dark Ages before a large piece of humanity revolts against it in a major way. Unfortunately, there is no longer a new world as was in place in 1776 for that to happen.

I didn't say the Libertarians shouldn't be part of the process (one of the factions) just that they aren't the solution.

In my opinion, people are looking for an alternative, and if the Libertarian Party shirks or even downplays some of its stances, voters will come flocking.

1.) No country in the history of the entire planet has survived with open border immigration. If Libertarians today became a "Closed Borders" party, I think they'd gain +20% support right off the top (of the current political environment). But they'll always be a laughing stock if they are for open borders.

2.) Too much is made for the drug freedom thing. Libertarians, as a whole, need to act like legalizing drugs is not a primary platform of their party, but a tertiary goal for sometime down the road. But then again, a significant portion of their modern support is pot-head millennials who don't really understand the rest of what they are asking for when they vote for a libertarian.

3.) Libertarians need to lean on the 10th Amendment. Make very clear cases about Government overreach, and how the solution would be as simple as letting each and every state decide for itself.

4.) Emphasize that Libertarianism is the opposite of Liberalism / Progressivism / Socialism. Literally shun any "progressives" that are just using the party as a beard instead of coming out as full blown socialists.

5.) Lastly, explain how the whole shooting match is coming to an end very quickly. Show the raises in inflation, and what that'll do, show the raises in interest rate, and what that'll do, and show that neither Dems or Reps are doing anything to fix it.

Ultimately if the Libertarian party wants to advance, they need to act like adults. They need to do stuff like expel the Libertarian Candidate that got up and stripped on stage, and then people will take them seriously.

Why is it that politicians never define their terms. What does Mr. Johnson mean by "freedom" and "liberty"? What does he believe is the difference?
An often used meaning of liberty is the granting of freedom by the state. Why must freedom be granted? Freedom is a natural condition when there is no interference of it. All states maintain power by the use of force and fraud. Unfortunately few people understand this.
As an aside: be wary of anyone who claims to stand for "the common good".

And the irrational voters would rather run the rotted tires with the belts showing and the tread separating that endanger their lives and steal their property.

If MORE factions (political parties) are needed, and the Libertarian Party is a political party, how are they not the answer to this? They provide competition to the two-party system and are advocating a level playing field for all political parties.

Agreed, the libertarians are just the beginning of an answer. No one group or faction can be trusted with the power that is now centralized in the statist faction. The power must be decentralized, spread to many factions with very limited power so that factions don't meddle in private affairs of productive individuals. There must be a first step toward that goal and currently libertarians represent one first step. The DemRep factions are a step backward to a less enlightened age.

Factions have existed from day one. Each political party is nothing if not a faction. Read Federalist Paper #10. Its not that no factions should be whats needed are MORE factions (political parties). A free market approach if the only solution to our situation. The libertarians are not the answer to this or anything by a stretch.
