I'll try to dial back the vitriol of my last post, but lest "we" forget - here is The Objective Standard's position on The Donald.

And it's not just the "orthodox" Objectivists at TOS.

Read anything by Robert Tracinski, a self-proclaimed "independent" OBJ.

Not going to beat the dead horse - but don't let election euphoria cloud your judgment.

This man is no friend of ours.

Only we can change this mess. Get on you congressmen and senators. Enough with the for life politicians. HOPEFULLY, this political outsider will be able to accomplish some things. Just hope it is the right things.

Hell, I even felt that way after Obama got elected, give him a chance, but only the first time. I thought, just how bad can he be? Unfortunately we found out. Hopefully Trump will do a better job.

so·cial·ism (s½“sh…-l¹z”…m) n. 1.a. A social system in which the means of producing and distributing goods are owned collectively and political power is exercised by the whole community. b. The theory or practice of those who support such a social system. 2. The building of the material base for communism under the dictatorship of the proletariat in Marxist-Leninist theory.
Can one be a socialist president for a non-socialist country? Obama has some socialist leanings but seems to want to be a leader of a mixed economy, but may not have the stomach for the mass killings necessary to convert it to a fully socialist economy.

No euphoria here, but better than a Statist that would sell us out for personal gain I would have much preferred Cruz. Let's hope we make a U turn back to the Constitution.

These things weigh upon my mind also.

Seems, day by day the leach I lent him gets shorter and shorter...and he's not even in office yet.

I secretly hope that it's just his inexperience showing and upon gaining new knowledge he'll eventually come around.
    Nice daydream anyway...

First, "orthodox" is an inappropriate word here.
Second, Biddle is correct in principle, but I am mixed re the specifics. E.g. all politicians violate rights in some form; infrastructure improvement is a necessity in a mixed economy; improvements in health care legislation is still moving toward greater freedom.
"Left" is not so well-defined today, but Trump will hopefully be much less Left than Hillary would have been.
And as bad as he appears to be, we can't be certain about how he will actually act as Pres.; so we will re-judge him over time.

Me 69-year-old dino, who grew up in the segregated south, views white supremacists of today as totally irrelevant.
Black people now live on my same street in Alabama.
I have black supervisors and black coworkers in my past.
Those I liked and did not like had nothing to do with their skin color.

A question below brought up the "alt-right" as they call themselves. Here is a link to Breitbart, the supposed home of the "alt-right" which explains.... http://www.breitbart.com/tech/2016/03...

The media has tried to turn it into the next boogey-man.

mr. trump will discover over time as the president that he will get a few things done and a lot of socialist/fascist things done because that is the way of the establishment and he will not drain the swamp as he liked to say. end result a one term president, and the next one will be worse than the last as it always turns out to be.

I haven't heard of it .The White supremacists are an ignorant group of lunatics that should worry about their own behavior.

Did I use it wrong? It was a new one to me, too.
What do you call the white supremacists hanging on his coat tails?

I have no choice but to give him a chance, and I'll greedily accept whatever silver lining this cloud may offer.

And just to have it said - it's not his leftist leanings I worry about. I'm used to that in American politics.

It's the rise of the "Alt" Right.
He has done nothing to put that crap down - and that speaks volumes to me.

But, like I said, not trying to whip that dead horse.

I'm willing to give Mr. Trump a chance to prove himself. Some of his positions I don't agree with, but bye and large I support him.
Given the last 8 years of a truly socialist president who did fundamentally change America Mr. Trumps stated goals and positions are moderate and evening leaning conservative.
Lower taxes, less forgien entanglements, a stronger defense and infrastructure improvements all seem a natural outgrowth of the Obama Reign.

    +1
I'll check back in 6 months to let you know how I feel then.
