Turkey is a NATO member…

With Putin looking for a way to diminish NATO, isn’t this an excuse to attack a NATO country? First Turkey shoots down a Russia jet then they murder a Russian ambassador. The assassinator was an off-duty policy office assigned to his security detail.

My point wasn’t to “kick them out’ but to illustrating a possible outcome of this event. Russia could feel justified to respond with a military attack on Turkey to the murder of the Russian ambassador; if Russia attacks Turkey, we, by NATO treaty, must respond. We would be in a regional conflict with Russia if we defended Turkey (not good) and if we did nothing, the NATO alliance would become ineffective (not good).

If Russia attacks Turkey, the outcome is negative for the US in all scenarios. Just saying…

We can't just kick them out because Russia might want to smash them. I doubt we can kick them out for exploding a Russian jet in their airspace. Depending on how the assassin is handled, we may or may not impose an ultimatum. That said, I will admit that country is a pain in the ass.

First time since Hitler that someone has found a compelling reason for Russia and the US to be allies.
    Don't waste the opportunity, Donald.
