Some Californians want Hitlery to rule them so badly they are proposing secession.
Let them go, and let them take the northeast corridor with them. All hail Empress Hitlery!

Yet, I think for the most part, the LEGAL immigrants have a strong work ethic. Unfortunately they also adhere to authoritarian types of religious beliefs.
According to Wikipedia(1) they recieved $343.7 billion in federal aid, but according to http://USGovernmentrecenue.com (2) California added $334.4 billion to the Government.
Any reasonable person would look at this and decide that a deficit of $9.3 billion in one year being covered by doing little more than remaining in a group you don't entirely like would be not a great price to pay.
Then again deficit spending being what it is and Cali already being in debt a great deal, perhaps they won't mind shouldering that burden.
I'm of the mind we should support their withdrawal, if they so decide. I would hate to lose California from the union for many reasons, but I believe an independent California would collapse and the lesson learned by it's failure would not be lost on all.
Not the best references, but my connection is poor today and I'm sick.

Edit:
I failed to mention the impact of interstate commerce, loss of a significant entertainment industry, loss of national corporations with branches and headquarters in California, increased travel restrictions and new border control, and a ton of other larger and smaller economic augmentations caused by a seperation of a state from the union that would all impact the numbers. It would be one heck of an experiment.
Yikes! That's roughly half the length of Trump's wall whereas the Californian-Mexican line is almost nothing in comparison.
Y'all just gotta know those illegals are gonna keep on comin' whether the Pelosian People's Paradise becomes a part of Mexico are not.
But maybe I would want to carve out the proposed State of Jefferson, with an extra eastern corridor toward Idaho. That would give us land enough to develop a seaport to replace Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle.
At that point what is the most likely scenario?
1. The US allows such an Action,
2. The Rep of CA allows it's citizens to actually patition such an action,
3. Some other country gets involved
4. Other actions
5. No such petition will be generated.
What do you people of the Gulch think would happen?
