Some Californians want Hitlery to rule them so badly they are proposing secession.
Let them go, and let them take the northeast corridor with them. All hail Empress Hitlery!

    Hi mminnick,
Thanks Freedomforall for your post . Consider the Mexican Americam War , the treaty signed gave California to the USA. If Calexit occurs the treaty is null and void. Then the golden bear becomes the golden eagle with a snake in its talons.

All of the benefits of being part of the United would automatically be terminated, treaties would need to be be negotiated with a foreign government. The ilegal alien problem would be all their own along with the sanctuary cities. At the least the flyover Demcrats will have nowhere to fly, all those electoral votes for libs gone. There is a bright side, plus when the tectonic plates break we can off sympathy and negotiate and aid program for the refugees!!!

I call it the new slavery. Once the blacks get locked into welfare, they have been newly enslaved by the white man

Well, I looked it up. I've always been interested in Native American fetishes. The lizard, for instance, is the fetish for resourcefulness. I used to wear a silver lizard brooch, just to remind me. Of course, I didn't believe it had magical properties!

Just a relationship that popped in my mind is all.
I wasn't being at all as trivia picky about the respective bear symbols as you are.

And that could be one thing Donald Trump gently pointed out to the head of Carrier when he called: that he really didn't want to get into that cesspool, especially if Trump gave his word of honor as a gentleman that he would improve conditions here.

Many of those people who would not wish to be part of Mexico, live, I imagine, in the proposed State of Jefferson. The rest could move.

No way should we allow them to secede. They can pack their bags and go to Canada. We can arrange free transport for them. Note that not all Californians are infected with the zombie virus.

    So what is your point?
The bear fetish of southwestern United States (the Zuni for one) was considered a protector. In fact, the White Bear (also symbol of Putin's party, United Russia) was called "The Guardian of the West."
And in some ways, that Russian Bear acted as a bulwark, protecting the people of Europe from invasions from the East: Mongols and other savage raiders.

Trump gotta love this, he can contract the Israeli wall building company and build walls to separate California. Then after that's done, tell the governors of NE Corridor States will do the same to you!

We agree. The very worst thing the Libs have done to Black America is provide for them. And so now there is black on black crime in major cities, and enormous amounts of drug addiction and dealing among blacks.

The reasoning of the SCOTUS regarding the issue of secession: the Constitution requires the agreement of the states (note, plural) before any member of the union may depart. California can vote to leave, but they need to convince 25 other states to agree with them. It didn't work for the Confederacy, and it won't work for California.

Restoring states' rights as intended by the 10th amendment should give California as much freedom to hang itself as needed, without the turmoil of secession. They're driving people and businesses out at a record rate as is (140,000 more legal residents left last year than arrived). San Francisco is a pig sty, and Los Angeles is becoming property of the drug cartels, so I hope the idiots enjoy their fate.

Its a nice thought, but our feds would never allow a coastal state to just go independent. Look what happened when the south simply wanted to go that way. It would be a bloody separation

If California could / would secede from the US their first order of business would be to stop the exodus of their tax base ; - most likely by force: Hollywood and the like will scream like a two year old.
The west coast ports problem will require taking back the Panama Canal that we gave away. I am sure a deal can be made when an aircraft carrier is parked out in the Gulf.
Other than that I really don't see much of a problem - cut them loose!
Ayn Rand will be smiling and saying, "I told you so."

It would create quite a mess, since California is intertwined with USA interests, and there are a lot of people there who would definitely NOT like to be part of Mexico. Talk about a swamp to be drained- Mexico has far more than the USA. I used to have a plant in Mexico and it was VERY crooked. Paying people off was far too rampant for me, and I closed the plant and left.

I agree. I am not above helping those temporarily down on their luck, or without other means of getting through crises, but I WILL NOT pander to sloth and indolence, the very worst in human nature.

Hey. We're not talking about Midas Mulligan. We're talking about Cuffy Meigs. Mexico would simply repudiate the debt. "The Frito Bandido" was an advertiser's joke, to be sure, but it had an element of truth.

I, for one, am tired of giving things that I have to work for away. I really resent the bums who parade around trying to make me feel guilty for having a few dollars that I worked for. I just ask them why they would think that I should go to work so they dont have to. Usually shuts them up

I think it would depend on how broke california was. It is valuable territory, but they would have to just wipe out all the debt. It would be quite a mess, and I doubt our feds would go along with it. The mexicans would probably think they could make california great again as a mexican state, but that would just never happen. Mexico isnt great now and never really was once the spanish and french got through with it, not to mention the catholic church.

Don't you get it yet? It's a territorial imperative! Mexico have wanted to reclaim the American Southwest since Benito Juarez kicked the French out! Then there's the Aztlan Chicano Student Movement (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or M.E.Ch.A. for short). They have a dream of rebuilding the old Aztec Empire. They have an interesting motto: "Por la raza todo; fuera la raza nada." You should be able to translate that even without Google Translate.

A rational national leader might want nothing to do with California. But these are irrational national leaders we're talking about. They want that territory back, and only because they once stood on it, until Zachary Taylor and such able officers as Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. Jackson took it away from them. They're almost as bad as the Muslims when it comes to taking it as a personal insult that anyone else has the right to stand on territory they, as an ethnic group, once owned.
