NASA Scientist Studies Whether Solar Storms Cause Animal Beachings

"Indeed, magnetic anomalies caused when the sun’s corona ejects gigantic bubbles of charged particles out into the solar system can cause problems for Earth-orbiting satellites and power grids when they slam into Earth’s protective magnetosphere. It’s possible they could affect animals, as well, Pulkkinen said."

A quick read didn't show any mention of the rapidly moving magnetic poles. I think this should figure in also. I also feel it has an effect on the human brain too. Especially those unaware. (not engaged in a full stage of consciousness and behavioral control)

It is or has been commonly used, e.g., at Watts Up With That when dealing with future climate speculation from models.
It is one way to pretend that your ideas about data are predicting future reality. The IPCC climate reports are loaded with such words and when there is real world stuff which might point to what might be somewhat accurate predictions about the future, it is buried in the notes. The most blatant thing that is ignored is their statement in a report that it is impossible to predict climate due to it being a chaotic system.

"weasel words"...short for protection from politics and continued funding?

In any event, I like the phrase...will you give me permission to use it?

Would be interesting if there were more than the weasel words like "speculate", "will", "possible", etc. The only facts seem to be that beachings have been observed, those taking part in the data mining study, and that it has nothing to report about further causes of beachings.

Maybe we can get whales to Eat radical islamist!
Although, that might endanger the species...never mind, bad idea.

It is an interesting theory/hypothesis. The data already exist so a study (data mining) should be pretty easy and cheap! Adding factors as the correlations are identified will be easy enough. It may not be simple cause and effect (but we won't ever have the ability to do "experimental research" on the question). What are the likely upsides to understanding this? Will the Bermuda Triangle suddenly make sense? Can we use what we learn to protect cetaceans from the effects of focused sonar tools? Can we get whales to ram enemy ships????? The possibilities are endless -- OK, so not endless, not even very diverse.

Also from cloud to cloud or high pressure to low pressure just like sunspots. That's why Ben at SO calls them "Earth Spots".
You know?...the lamestream has picked up that designation!

Tesla is said to have understood the earths resonance years before Schulman.
Sprites are large-scale electrical discharges that occur high above thunderstorm clouds, or cumulonimbus, giving rise to a quite varied range of visual shapes flickering in the night sky. They are triggered by the discharges of positive lightning between an underlying thundercloud and the ground.
The relationship between the electric universe above is indicative of the sprites direction. With lightning from the cloud to ground actually meets a bolt coming the tree our rod. It could be connecting above as well.

North and south has been hard to keep up with lately...magnetic north is over by Siberia and south magnetic pole is just a little south of Australia. (way north of the south pole (continent)
AND...our weighted Axis is just off the northeast coast of Greenland...way away from where its stomping grounds historically. So we have quite a different tilt now.

Not likely...it's all that lighting all over the globe that creates the shuman resonance which all life on the planet depends on.
Atmospheric charging (increased electrical activity that has leaked down from the ionosphere) Like the Carrington event although that one was a biggie. Most times they are small events.

    What's north?

You mention atmospheric charging and all I can think of is lightning! Could that interfere with the cetacean's ability to sense magnetic fields?

Exactly!...however, I sometimes wonder if the "left brained" mindless people mix up "environment" with climate. Has those that rule mankind screwed up our environment? Yes they have...does that effect weather patterns over a long period of time? no it doesn't...Period.

    Hi OUC,
Your link to http://suspiciousobservers.org is a fascinating and logically explained site. The info is enlightening . If this planets weather is not a result of what the sun pulses at us. then the shade of a tree is no relief from heat. The research and sources, the due- diligence, indeed the historical record all provide evidence of what is really going on , a cooling period. Several fascinating videos , including "what do I do when I wake up" a type of a guide for truth seeking. This is just a start to our understanding of the solar weather and other cosmic influences that provide us a livable environment. Another thought comes to mind when they the kakistocrats talk about stopping man made climate change and then expand geoengineering globally and they fool around with the ionosphere it seems contradictory and there are no contradictions.

Atmospheric charging might have something to do with it too...don't be so quick to blame your age.
    Laughing...maybe you couldn't figure where north is for a moment...sorry, couldn't resist

It's super-cooled helium I was thinking of. Must have been a senior moment.

But I'll do what you suggested.

Physicist know, astrophysicist know...darn well nasa aught to know.

People that have never had an interest or been exposed to these things...yea, they don't know...neither did I a few years ago...(ps... and still struggling to know)

Yes...sunspot flairs do also( we really haven't had one in almost a year)...basically any stream of particles strong enough to disturb our ionosphere would create atmospheric effects.

And while we're on the subject of things scientific. I've always thought super-cooled nitrogen and its effects were fascinating.

Maybe I'll do that! Did find the book I was looking for on Amazon. I'll order it next month. Has great diagrams and pictures.

Look under the daily news video and you will see the sun series.
Oh it's legit alright. The disaster apt is a side line developed from observations of outgoing long wave radiation from earth that are attracted and attract these coronal streams. Some other apts by nasa use similar data but are not as quick and accurate as SO's.
View the sun series and listen to the morning news every morn...heck it's free!

Everything, basically is energy. Photons, electrons; charged particles in a plasma that travel along magnetic field lines.
