The note, which is "optional".... is not optional. It is foolish to assume that it is, and to mark is thus.

    Robbie is correct. What you will notice is that it is not uncommon for someone to just post a link for example. So the note really is optional.

    Oftentimes someone will post a link to an outside web-page and use the header to make the comment that they intend (that's often how I post), so putting comments in the note area is not needed. You get the intent of the post in the heading, and when you click on it (or the link below the note area) you can then go to the original linked page.

    When you post, you can post just a title with a link to a website or video or whatever. You don't have to add any text beyond that if you don't want to.
