A private street saga

I find this ironic in more ways than one.

"Thanks to a little-noticed auction sale, a South Bay couple are the proud owners of one of the most exclusive streets in San Francisco — and they’re looking for ways to make their purchase pay."

UPDATE: The San Francisco Board of Supervisors gave the street back to the homeowners association, and now the couple that bought it at the tax auction are suing the city to reclaim it. Stay tuned . . .

I'm betting that's not going to happen. Too much publicity, California egalitarian mindset, and many rooting for the underdog.

The wealthy citizens on that street will crush this young couple. Say "adios" to that $90K...

From the article: "And if the Presidio Terrace residents aren’t interested in paying for parking privileges, perhaps some of their neighbors outside the gates — in a city where parking is at a premium — would be."

If I lived in the area, I would be willing to pay for a spot to park my 1998 Chevy. :-)

They probably hate the idea, but I'm pretty sure the residents are still paying for upkeep and maintenance through their association fees. If they refuse to pay, their property values and quality of life will take a hit.

If it was me, I would have that guard at the gate start collecting a toll to pay for the upkeep and maintenance.

I have the weirdest hunch that their congressional salaries are not their chief source of income. :-)

This story is so funny, but my main question is, why do congressmen and women live in megamillion dollar homes? We are obviously paying them way too much!

That "culmination of a comedy of errors" I read in the article can apply to the whole A is K state.

    So...somebody sold hypocrite heaven.
Hilarious!I Hope they turn it into a tourist attraction, where people in cars pay $5 to drive endlessly around the oval.

From what I understood; the street in question was property of the HOA, and was part of a private gated community; not the city.
Private property that had not played a tax they agreed to pay for 30 years when they were collecting that tax from their residents.

why can't they be grandfathered since they have been living their so long. of course there must be a trao door in one of the old restaurants along the waterfront where people get shanghaied.

Pelosi , Feinstein live in a neighborhood with such a
past. What champions for the poor and racial equality they are.
