Not the "aging process", but the learning process!

Nothing trumps experience, when it comes to one's philosophical journey.

13, 14 and 15 amendments refer to the reconstruction and the absorption of slaves into society as citizens. They were created to FORCE the south to comply and for no other reason.

The 14th amendment is what ensures that your state government can't violate the Constitution. Prior to the 14th amendment, only the federal government was required to abide by the Constitution or be bound by its precepts. State governments were exempt, because the Constitution didn't apply to them.

Do you want to live in an America where state governments are not required to adhere to the Constitution? Cuz' that's exactly what you're suggesting when you say we should repeal the 14th amendment...

Which is why the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments should be nullified. Black have to view their rights as having been assigned to them. To be fully equal those amendments are not necessary, particularly after 100+ years.

I can agree to a degree. I think it goes with the acquisition of wealth and "stuff" and wanting to keep it.

I've had numerous conversations with people of all ages, sexes, and sexual orientation. I can honestly say that 95+% once they understand Conservatism properly the are less hostile toward it and even see themselves in it.

I can't say if I've "converted" anyone but I know damn well they learned something about conservatism and about themselves.

I still believe people tend to be more liberal when young and become more conservative as they age, may be due to the aging process, who knows?

I knew. But I'll believe the statistics when I see the end results in the polls. I've said before, 95+% of human beings are conservative (even hardcore liberals) - they just either refuse to realize it or never thought about it.

    license is not liberty.

How do we get more rights? Plan on sending a petition to God?

An interesting article, and from a real news outlet-- not the websites that repeat jokes as facts that often get quoted here.

They said not all areas got more conservative, e.g. support for marriage rights. This makes me optimistic that we're moving toward a more libertarian view: more rights, less gov't involvement in our lives.

I am optimistic that this may be a key time when people went from Clinton to Bush to Obama and are looking for a third option.
