Emory University Hospital in Atlanta is set to receive a patient infected with the deadly Ebola disease currently sweeping through swaths of west Africa.

The patient is expected to arrive “within the next several days”, the university said in a statement. The exact date of arrival is not yet known. The university did not give the patient’s name.

With global travel, I don't see how two patients coming to Atlanta for treatment will make much difference. A guy in Africa wakes up with a headache, but has a flight to London so he goes to the airport in a cab. While there, he uses the restroom and picks up some magazines to look through while waiting for his flight. He boards his flight, still feeling a bit weak, uses the airline restroom, and disembarks in London. While waiting for his connection, he has a bite to eat in an airport diner, does a bit more shopping, maybe uses a few different restrooms, eventually boards the flight to New York. Now, by the time this guy gets to New York, he feels like crap so quickly gets a cab to his hotel, touching elevator buttons, doorknobs, handles, etc. Heck, this guy is sweating so he wipes his brow before he pushes the button for the 5th floor. Okay - two days later he is in the hospital and they are checking for Ebola. How many people has this guy affected by now? There is no way to contain this - we have global travel and people come and go as they please.

Similar to 9-11 but broader and more frightening.
Then there will be a "cure" developed, but it will only available through the government and must be taken every month or you die a horrible death.
Of course you must give up your firearms, sign a loyalty oath. Another way to administer the 'cure' includes an implanted device that also monitors position, audio, and video, and can be armed to release poison gas.
If the con-gress doesn't stop this before it occurs they should be shot for treason,

It's almost time for martial law. This is a good way for this administration to stop the elections. Their goal is permanent control of the US!!!

Oh, okay. Nay. I understand where everyone is coming from. We had the virus here--studying it for years. This just the first human being to be carrying the virus we have admitted into the states.

Our previous exchange left me thinking you thought I wasn't being humane... so I took it as sarcasm.

Actually. I’m wrong. I meant they were already studying the virus here --and monkeys got infected. It was in 1989 at a lab in Reston Va. I don’t know why I thought it was two monkeys. It was some type of cross-contamination with ebola and another virus involving several monkeys. They called the new strain Reston virus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reston_viru...

I believe it was ia political decision. The idea was first to be compassionate. And then to think of all the lovely laws that could be created if ebola should break out? Let's not think small here, friend. You talk about *thousands* being hurt by the virus. Why not millions? How about tens of millions? Think the Black Death and then a return to rationality in government--that is, virtually complete government control of the economy?

Yes, yes, there are all kinds of possibilities for contamination of ebola patients. But can we simply say that such people chose to go to places of infection? America is, after all, God's Green Earth. We must have compassion for those victims of disease. Remember all blacks have ties to Africa. No man is on an American island!

i Jeffro:) I don't believe there's a plan behind helping an American medically. BUT I do believe that Obama's advisers do stand ready to interfere with anything and everything should Ebola become a serious outbreak! I personally prophesy there would be camps where vulnerable folks would be concentrated in order to protect everyone else! I think face masks at funerals might be initiated. How about laws against having buffets of any kinds--that's a 2-in-1 punch---eliminating an industry and impoverishing the country a bit in order to save it? While freedom of speech is holy in America, surely one should muzzle folks who are inciting others against acting upon laws obviously set up to protect all Americans? As I recall, people are not allowed currently to advertise clinically proven benefits of various supplements and vitamins. How much more should they be restricted when the results can be so catastrophic?

I realize that the medical folks most probably have only the best of intentions. But IF there should be an epidemic of ebola running through Atlanta and then elsewhere, wouldn't Obama's advisers latch onto it to pass laws putting vulnerable people into camps? Perhaps requiring all of us to wear face masks at funerals? Eventually at buffets?

If you had a nuclear freaking warhead fused to your butt, with a random trigger on it, should we let you into the US?
