I'd like to know more about this exploit as blockchain is supposed to be unbeatable... If I were in crypto currencies, I'd be really skittish right now...

    Don't you love the price manipulation in the chart? (Just before the bad news was released
    the price spiked up 10% so insiders could exit.) No, I do not think it was a coincidence.
