Robbie's altruism.

Robbie, per your last comment, perhaps you need to check your premisses. You seem somewhat confused as to just what altruism is. (Just to let you know, some very famous evolutionary biologists--I know, a redundancy--decided that since they couldn't find an altruism gene, that there must at least be something they could designate as "reciprocal altruism. As far as I'm concerned, if it's reciprocal, it's no longer altruism!

    Actually, it seems to be that any altruism gene is a potential "death instinct"; and would contribute to the non-survival of a species, not the other way around.

    Even if we find the gene in nature, it doesn't mean we must behave that way, unless we desire to and think it's a good idea for us.
