You need to show this to the environmentalists who are frantic about cutting scarce vegetation along the border. Some endangered desert species are very dependent on the few spots along the border where significant undergrowth is present, and the Border Patrol has been working out how to secure those parts of the border without walls or "cutting the grass."

Me dino likes that idea. Lengths of razor wire hitched to tall posts could be used to prop up the thorn bushes and maybe some Pacific Poison Oak and Western Poison Ivy could be spread about along the way. Then there's sidewinders and scorpions . . .

How about planting stuff with heavy duty thorns for about 20 ft on the beach of the rio grande ! Make em think twice about actually getting into the USA !! Out here in LV, we plant those kind of bushes on the inside of our property fences to discourage trespassers.

Me dino recalls seeing rather tall reedy growth along the Rio Grande. Would not go near it now, but during 1973 I camped beside that river in the Texas Big Bend park. Everything else around me was definitely desert.
There's cactus and bushy stuff in the sand along the dry desert border that extends from the Rip Grande to the California coast. Any green lawn grass is not natural.
