    "Voila! Elon Musk's Hyperloop. "
I hope they build it. I have a kids book about future transortation technologies from the late 70s. My 5 y/o likes it. It has a partial-vacuum tube train as something coming soon. The IT stuff has blown past everyone's predictions. I hope we see some revolutionary aerospace technology too in my lifetime.

    "We all have such stories."
Yeah, I'm not saying they should have built it just to give my company business.

Is it me, or does it occur to anyone else that "High-speed rail" means thousands of miles of unprotected and unprotectable train tracks just waiting for terrorists to disrupt?

That is one of the things we must do to be consistent with Gulch values, CircuitGuy. We all have such stories.

One of the big debates in my county in FL is whether we should allow an Orlando to Miami high speed rail to build on the western edge of our county (without stopping). Not a lot of support for it except from my RINO state representative and those from the high speed rail company backing him. I heard my first ad in favor of it just today.

Stealing vast amounts of money to spend lavishly is the job of organized crime. To progress their organizations, they will continuously steal more using any means necessary,
    Very hard to stop.

I lost a project b/c our governor refused to accept money for a high-speed rail project. I can understand his reasoning, though, b/c the money's not free; it's paid for by US tax payers.

My biggest problem is it wasn't really high-speed. It was a step up from a bus. If they could get trains with speed close to competing with jets, it could reduce emissions and transportation costs and be a very good thing.
