Half Truth or Fake News? PBS, biased again.

Data is correct, but...
Picture of AR15s with title about gun deaths, when AR15s are responsible for a tiny fraction.
Death rate, not balanced by total homicides/deaths (knifes, blunt, etc).
Mass shooting note about the effect, but then note about how silly it is to respond by arming teachers.
Then the total gun deaths, not adjusted for population.
Unsupported/misleading statement that guns are a major health problem from a Harvard professor.

Seems like all the data is correct. How can this be fake news?

That would be awesome, although I'd prefer they poured gas on themselves, but 220/221, whatever it takes.

Clearly. We don't even lock our doors. No issues in pseudo-rural town.
Of course three 90-ish lbs loud labs help too, but if someone wants to break in, they better bring their lunch. Some part of them is staying here.

Oh, I thought you were going to assert the statistics are racially-biased!

went a different way, equally funny. (are we allowed to say equally funny?)

Five of the top six countries for firearm death rate are Spanish speaking!

    Why is there no outrage?
Why is there no call to make it illegal to speak Spanish because it obviously causes people to become crazed murderers?
Make it illegal for Spanish speakers to cross the border into the US without explicit permission.
Wait, it is already illegal. Where are all these dangerous gun-wielding Spanish speakers coming from?

(note the above comments are tongue-in-cheek)

And if you could further delineate between cities and states within the USA you would get an even more dramatic picture. The vast majority of places in the USA are very safe, in a relative sense.

Drives me crazy they use a statistically irrelevant firearm in the opening picture. Makes me want another "Black Guns Matter" bumper sticker.

I like the road rage point. It certainly gets me angry, but at the speak, not the asserted underdog.

Point was just another example of fact-picking to play pied piper to willing lemmings.

I don't know what I was supposed to pay attention to, but i certainly know 1) suicide is a different matter, and 2) the statistics are co mingled. Next would be to leave out law enforcement (generally justified) homicides, and drug/gang violence is an iffy portion. Take that away, and the US is way, way down.

And your point is with the fake news?

The US is 30th in gun related deaths.

Suicide is a totally different matter, which you should know had you paid attention.

As for PBS, it has always been biased, not "again". For them even Juan Williams was an enemy after making his remark on ME-looking travelers.

PBS has been statist biased for it's entire existence.
I used to listen to NPR on radio, but about 30 years ago the bias became to much to bear.
I suspect at least 50% of road rage is caused by NPR. ;^)

    Bias is an apt description.
At least they do present the data on a per capita basis and they do call out that many, if not most, gun deaths are due to suicide.

What is left are relatively small numbers. Other issues are far more worthy of governmental attention.
