If voters (even in NY) send a woman like Ocasio Cortez to the House, what does that say about the electorate?

"most conservatives are the last to identify the philosophical premises behind the curtain, substituting conspiracy theories imagining what is causelessly behind the curtain. "

So you think the left are not concocting conspiracy theories?

Would you elaborate, or provide examples for your "observation"?

A new secret police monitoring ideas in government schools is the opposite of a free society.

I’d rather plain clothes agents be legally placed in the public schools to gather evidence on those specific seditious individuals and groups that are actively training the young and innocent to destroy America from within.

Is it Trumps job to change fundamental ideas in education?
He is proposing a merger of education and labor depts and like everything else Trump attempts to accomplish it will face stiff resistance.

U.S. Department of Education and the Workforce? That’s what the Trump administration envisions in its new 132-page framework for merging the Education and Labor Departments, as part of a broader overhaul of the federal government.

The departments, officials wrote in the proposal, “share a common goal of preparing Americans for success in a globally competitive world through family-sustaining careers. However, the two departments operate in silos, inhibiting the federal government’s ability to address the skill needs of the American people in a coordinated manner.”

Higher-education programs would fall under a new office called “American Workforce and Higher Education Administration,” which would be “charged with ensuring that American workers possess the skills necessary to succeed in the workforce.”.

Why not? She saw Washington DC doing it continuously, that's where her husband's money was coming from.

It fails because the producers stop producing in exchange for punishment, not because they try to take more than what is already being produced up to that point. It fails because forcing people to work and sacrifice is on principle contrary to the requirements of human life, using one's own mind to pursue one's own values with the freedom to do it to the best of one's ability.

The fact is that such an explanation does not address the cause. 'Here now want free stuff' is an anti-intellectual, percept-bound non-explanation.

When someone demands free government medical care as a "right" and all one can say in response is that he wants it for free, the response from those who support it or don't know any better is only "of course he does, so turn it over".

"What were voters thinking electing Ocasio-Cortez?" What they were taught to think. And the American sense of life that used to cause them to revolt against the consequences is disappearing.

Parents pass on what they believe. It ranges from neglect in formal education to sophisticated, expensive education promoting false philosophical premises, but all of it reinforcing what the parents accept. Blaming the problem on "parents" while neglecting the ideas being spread is hopelessly inadequate and misleading. It's like blaming. in the name of being "more complex", losses in an ideological war for world conquest on "the sergeants didn't tell the infantry enough what to do".

No, it is not "low IQ". Much of the public accepts the false premises as a result of education and what is fed and reinforced daily through the media.

Dismissing deadly ideas of an enemy as mere "low IQ" will get you nowhere and results in complacency allowing the cause to continue unchallenged.

Trump is doing nothing to change fundamental ideas in education. He is no threat to their trend, only a temporary political obstruction slowing down the politics in some ways while promoting it and its premises in others. The Democrats are frantic because they are currently not completely in their accustomed position of power and because Trump openly taunts and rejects them, refusing to grant the sanction of the victim. That is contrary to their usual phony position of the 'moral high ground', which is what they mean by his "tone" but dare not explain. That is what they can't stand.

Reversing it will take much more than a Trump and more than "vigilance", which is only watching our own demise.

    You have a point.

The fact still remains that those voting for a candidate who promises free stuff are usually voting for a socialist/communist, because they are the ones promising it.

It is even more complex than that. It is a multivariable equation that has to work out right.

It is not only our schools that are failing. It is parents, society, workplace, etc., which are all contributing to the disfunction over time.

Take parents for example: what do children "learn" from them? In most households the youngsters are left to themselves to learn and be prepared for life. Parents don't want anything to do with them and they grow up like weeds, without any directions. Parents think it is the schools that must prepare them, and we know what schools do: giving us the snowflakes.

She reminds me of the brainless wife of a young officer that worked under me. Coming from a wealthy doctor's family, she was baffled when they ran out of money, because she still had checks in her checkbook.

It is easier to loot than produce. It is easier to borrow than earn. It is easier to follow than lead. It is easier to criticize than learn. It is easier to use emotion than use reason. It is easier destroy than create. It is easier to be a socialist than a capitalist.

mia, so how did the schools get that way? Over the last 40 years did they just drift down the liberal road, or was it a precondition to be able to support this whole libers/socialst/democrat attempt to takeover. This is why Trump is such an anethema to them and they are virulant on why he must be destroyed. They drool and slobber obscenities just at the thought of him, because he represents (not is) the effort to stop them, and bring them to justice. They almost made it, with Obama into Clinton, and....then failed. Reason for why we have to get control again and root this whole evil mess out into the open, the sheeple need it thrust in their faces to ever believe there are "real" bad people.

Ah, Doc, as her meme says "Just Pay for it". Down in Venezuela in class, they never mentioned "earning" money, just taking it. That is the basis of all socialist governments, and they fail because you cannot take more than is produced, and then we have that little problem of the producers leaving. But all that is wasted on people with her outlook, which is "We just write a check" (I guess "use the debit card" fits better now).

Sadly, the time to collapse may not be long. It depends on what happens along the way. But it isn't required for reform, which is easier starting from some semblance of civilized life. Time for the proper education is long. The question is, is enough left of the American sense of life to hold off or overthrow the collectivists long enough for the required education.
