Odd press for Freedom, but I'll take it

Will be interesting if this gets as quick a response as the CA judge ruling against large capacity magazines, and his instructions to the state.

That said, marijuana should just be legalized, and get it over with. It is inevitable. This would be a press Trump could make and win over a lot of votes.

I personally am a "Coke addict". I don't mean cocaine, I mean Coca-Cola. But it doesn't make me high, and I don't get drunk from it. But I have had to cut back on it because of the caffeine; with the nervous disorder, I have to watch it.

I don't think that marijuana should be against the law. I do think it does brain damage, and I would never use it. I do think that someone who passes it to minors should be prosecuted. (In principle, that would be like selling alcoholic beverages to minors, which is also illegal).

I have a problem with "legalizing" it; putting sales tax on it, and thus making the government dependent for its operations on a brain-damaging drug, but I think it should be decriminalized instead, if that is possible.

I had a friend like that (oddly a major fiscal conservative) tell me that “you can get real close to animals on peyote.”

That was like a hippie version of a tin foil hat!

Lot of examples beyond druggies of a lack of accountability for decisions. That is why I’m here!

Me neither. I once had a friend who went to a more liberal college tell me about his experience with peyote, which went something like this: "You slice up them mescal buttons real thin, then you boil 'em until you got syrup, and you drink it. Then you puke like crazy, get the runs, which ain't fun, but then you see all kinds of wild stuff, like pink dragons walking through walls. It's a rush, man." Needless to say, it was not a description that made me want any part of that.

If my choices result in creating a debt to another (or others), accountability, in theory, assumes the debt be paid. Courts can determine how but I want druggies (and drunkies) to know. up front, they will be held accountable

The problem with eliminating criminality of using, dealing marijuana is one Colorado and Washington state are now dealing with. Legally licensed dealers can't compete with cartel street sales, because of the cost of licensing and taxes. Cartel sales in those states are booming, and the statistics tell us that the cartels are "graduating" users to even cheaper drugs like heroin or methamphetamine that offer higher highs and almost instant addiction.

Alcohol is well regulated, and there are severe penalties for misuse, but we still have moonshiners who sell illegally. However, efficiency and automation, developed over about the last 80 years, has made alcohol cheaper than the moonshiner variety where its legal. Moonshiner sales are still profitable in "dry" counties, because the legal variety isn't available at all. It's all about the money.

Disagree. The cause of someone’s damages against another are irrelevant to them having to pay repercussions.

They should have to pay, but there is no need to set compensation before hand. Unless your concern is that people aren’t held accountable, which I agree with, but it is a separate issue.

agree. my issue is no clear idea of what WILL happen if one's drug use causes or leads to a NEGATIVE consequence for anyone else. Should be spelled out in the law. Cause MVA, lose your DL for a year,, no equivocation........

I've never tried illegal drugs either, including weed, and I was a teen during the 60s. However, beer and wine ARE drugs. So anyone who drinks beer/wine/other alcoholic beverages, caffeine and nicotine, are all "drug users." Because they are all drugs.

I am really not interested in the government deciding for me whether or not I can or should use THC-containing products. I say: make them legal, punish those who are not responsible. Including being stoned in public. In most places, being "intoxicated" in public is already illegal, as well as "failure to maintain control of the vehicle." The laws are in place.

I'm a red wine and stouts/ales guy, although a nice juicy NE IPA works sometimes.

    Weed does nothing for me.

In countries like the Netherlands with their "weed cafes", it may be legal but it is highly frowned upon to be publicly stoned. Walking down the street with a joint in your hand is like walking down the street here holding a forty.

"Marvin Washington called it a victory not only for the cannabis community, but for all Americans. “The appeals court has decided our challenge of the constitutionality of cannabis’ scheduling has merit… We can’t get caught up in a 10 to 12 year DEA review or court case. Alexis, Jagger, and many other people need their medicine now."

It beats me why Cannabis should be legal.

My supermarket is suddenly full of products at exorbitant prices that promise miracles.

You may order them from Amazon and online as well.

There is a TV show "Bong Appetit" that presents a competition between chefs to prepare dishes with Cannabis, and they are judged by a panel consisting of characters you would be scared meeting on the street at night.

The dishes must contain a certain percentage of Cannabis.

By the end of the show the entire panel is stoned. after tasting every dish.

I assume that will be an acceptable spectacle associated with Cannabis. Some like to compare Cannabis to alcohol in their justification for its legal use. But being publicly drunk is not acceptable so why is it acceptable to being stoned?

BTW, those who need it for medical reasons could easily have it prescribed by their doctor. There is no need to make it available for the entire population for that reason.
