Guess the feds are doing a good job of making sure the children get enough to eat... just look at how FAT they are! Good food?

It is easy to count up the calories in a recipe. So they should just make teeny-tiny pink cookies with 200 cal each. Then the students can take 'a handful' as they go through the cafeteria line.

...It obeys the letter of the law, and the spirit of freedom is laughing its alabaster head off!

Recipe: I eat paleo, and I love Toll house cookies. So I have redacted the recipe to use almond flour and cashew flour instead of wheat flour (nut flours have high protein, low simple carb content) and a small amount of raw honey instead of a lot of sugar. I then smash up >70% chocolate bars (because I cannot find choc chips >70%) and put those in lavishly. My (non-paleo) colleagues at work respond enthusiastically when I make too big a batch and have to hand some out.

    Jan, strategy is ALL

I remember bringing a brown bag in the late 50's. And way back in early 50's I remember stuffing the schools toasted cheese sandwiches into my milk carton because they made me feel sick. There was monitor standing by the trash to make sure no one wasted any food.

A libertarian or republitarian candidate for School Superintendent in that district should run by promising to repeal ObamaCuisine.
The candidate should make that cookie central to the campaign - passed out at every event.

What a bunch of nonsense. Notice how they still call it a "guideline". When's the last time you've seen a guideline come out of our government. I just hope more people will take notice as to what's happening before they ban pork (that stuff we eat that comes from pigs).

Surely the school lunches receive some sort of Federal subsidy. Argue with the Feds and they threaten to cut the subsidy. Never should have had the subsidy in the first place.

I seem to remember that half a century ago there sere some arguments on the subject.

"Shouldn't have Federal money there. The Feds will take control."

"That can't happen. You're being paranoid again. It's just a program to make sure kids get enough to eat. Surely you are not in favor of letting them starve?"

One more control in an ever more controlling government that thinks it knows what's good for you and your children better than you do.
