Rand and the Mystics

"As products of the split between man’s soul and body, there are two kinds of teachers of the Morality of Death: the mystics of spirit and the mystics of muscle, whom you call the spiritualists and the materialists, those who believe in consciousness without existence and those who believe in existence without consciousness. Both demand the surrender of your mind, one to their revelations, the other to their reflexes. No matter how loudly they posture in the roles of irreconcilable antagonists, their moral codes are alike, and so are their aims: in matter—the enslavement of man’s body, in spirit—the destruction of his mind." from the Ayn Rand Lexicon

Where would you place President Obama in the above thought? Mystic of spirit? or Mystic of muscle?

Bin Laden was taken down by the CIA and Seal Team 6. Obama had as much to do with it as you or I.

I think when man made fire, he had at least by then learned what good and evil were. That which benefits life (fire to warm me) is good. That which destroys life (fire that burns me) is evil. I think good and evil is a human notion. Do you disagree?

Yes, it was after much pussy footing around. Yes, it may have been based on considerations for his presidency. But, his loud words... happened. Not to defend Mr. ACA/NAFTA President, but at least he knew he was bound by his loud words.

John McCain: Roosevelt said "speak softly and carry a big stick. Senator Obama likes to talk loudly."

Obama said, we will crush Al Qaeda and kill Osama bin Laden.

    We killed him.

I would ask ewv since he seems to be the self proclaimed expert on all things secular, religious and objectivist.

I was simply point out the source of the concept of Good and Evil is a religious notion. I made no further inference.

I would put it to you that "cave-dwellers" based on their drawings from what I have seen and read about during archeologists assessments is that they believed in deities or supernatural forces, hence again good/evil religious notion.

I have been reading a philosopher who has stated our societal situation: "Everywhere the mediocre are combining in order to make themselves master! Everything that makes softt and effeminate, that serves the ends of the "people" or the "feminine", works in the favor of suffrage universal, ie, the dominion of "inferior men". But we should take reprisal and bring this whole affair to light and to the bar of judgment."
    Will to Power, F. Nietzsche
The following is where I stand and it when becomes available I will be first in line: ".... the production of a synthetic, summarizing, justifying man for whose existence this tranformation of mankind into a machine is a precondition, as a base which he can invent his "higher form of being".(Transhuman).
    F. Nietzsche
These people in the above statement/question are "mediocre" at best. Anyone in the Gulch is better than any who we walk amoung. We must integrate ourselves and have the spirit of the Lion. Our "Will" is our own We must be our own center and the "Lord within ourselves". We walk amoung the people alone, they fear and loath us but seek to touch the hem of our coats thinking that they will become an whole. They can't and will not. The mediocre are unable to do this. They are unable to go beyound the flesh.

Did they mention the part where he was fine 2 million for insider trading and other close brushes with the law, just for starters. More Milliken and Madoff than Buffet (I had to look up Buffet in moment of brain -arts and used the phrase Billionaire Investors. These guys are a dime a dozen!" Real name George Schwartz he is on record as wanting higher taxes while keeping his money safely offshore. And a big time supporter of extreme left wing causes and people. Sure he's brilliant. You may remember the recent battle with with someone that wanted the right to buy elections across the country. Easy to understand the outcome. The motto is Where's Mine? and the slogan is I have the right without explanation to take all your rights without exception.

Not all success stories have laudable endings. this one is just a little bit too perfect for me. helluva it is he's a citizen but not just like the rest of us.

But he is the reason and root cause for same sex marriage. among other unlaudable attacks on this country.

This from Wiki "In 1947, Soros emigrated to England and became an impoverished student at the London School of Economics.[22] While a student of the philosopher Karl Popper, Soros worked as a railway porter and as a waiter. A female university tutor requested aid for Soros, and he received £40 from a Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) charity.[23] In a discussion at the Los Angeles World Affairs Council in 2006, Alvin Shuster, former foreign editor of the Los Angeles Times, asked Soros, "How does one go from an immigrant to a financier? ... When did you realise that you knew how to make money?" Soros replied, "Well, I had a variety of jobs and I ended up selling fancy goods on the sea side, souvenir shops, and I thought, that's really not what I was cut out to do. So, I wrote to every managing director in every merchant bank in London, got just one or two replies, and eventually that's how I got a job in a merchant bank."[24] That job was an entry-level position in Singer & Friedlander.

In 1951, Soros earned a BSc in Philosophy and a PhD in Philosophy in 1954, both from the London School of Economics.[25]"

It seems he did it bootstrap style or does he own Wikipedia?

Funny, The mind and 'Consciousness' go together, you can't have one without the other. obama is only a brain, everything is external, no accountability and he depends upon an interconnected collective. He is clearly Bicameral by nature and even more mystical than the mystics. (Mark Hamilton's use of mysticism which goes beyond what can not be seen) (Bicameral as used by Julian Jaynes as merely a split brain unaware of itself)
In short, he doesn't fit into either of the proposed categories because you can not have an 'I' (identity) without conscious awareness. That awareness of yourself creates conscience witch leads to a mind. (brain inside the head and the mind outside the head; the subconscious and awareness of such is your connection to your mind. I do not call him a parasitical humanoid for no reason. LOL

I did not say that. I said the concept of Good and Evil was a religious "notion."

"Evil in the broad sense, which includes all natural and moral evils, tends to be the sort of evil referenced in theological contexts, such as in discussions of the problem of evil...."

John Galt and Ellsworth Toohey. are hardly religious. Do you mean to say that there is no Good and Evil outside of religion?

Good and Evil is a religious notion.

Like the Sith and Jedi, the perception of good and evil is totally based on your perspective.
