Those that can't afford "things" just keep squirting out children, while telling those of us that can afford them to cut back.
Consumption is only a problem because we have too many moochers and not enough producers.

It's way past time to shut down the UN.

Another failed utopian experiment, much like the League of Nations were.

I had a good friend -- mechanical/electrical dual-degreed engineer -- who liked to say, "If we were fatter, we'd be closer to one another."

The UN does not give a flying fig about climate, it is a scheme to CONTROL people. The are commies, and they are using the same tactics Hitler used and Russians used. We believed Gorbachev's green lies, and they are using them big time. They want to rewild the farm lands so what food is available is permitted by the UN. They want to take control of all land, and thus make it impossible for people to hunt or seek food on their own. They want refrigeration done away with, thus no food storage, just your daily rations, as in Glenn Beck's novel "Agenda 21" - fiction becomes truth. Not only the immediate, but jobs will be gone when electricity is rationed and corporations like Emerson Climate Technologies, will be put out of business, when their product is no allowed. Farmers will have no income. Industry after industry will not be able to function. They have said that shots to prevent reproduction will be given, and only those with permits will be allowed to forgo the shots. This is all UN control crap, and we are in their cross hairs. I can think of no real good the UN does. Can anyone explain how mosquito nets for the beds in Africa protect them during the day? Mosquitoes do not just bite at night. These do gooders fall for all pseudo science the UN puts out, which is based on what they need to write to scare people. You can bet they will have heat when they shut down coal production.

I would happily live off the land -- hunting my meat and gathering my berries and wild greens and roots, but the BLM would show up with their storm troopers and evict me.

Well said! Too many people assume that since I am a capitalist it must mean I believe it is fine to abuse animals and the land. I patiently have to explain that I am the consistent one. Be kind to all.

Actually that's been disproven. They get too much pleasure out of one end, and just chew up the one at the other end.

    Here's an unintended consequence:
    1. We all eat less
    2. Government encourages farmers to harvest less food.
    3. We all die of starvation.
Oh, wait. That's not an unintended consequence, is it?

The biggest source of noxious, methane-laden emissions are politicians. Shut them up and the world's temperature would drop at least one degree.

Unfortunately, my state (New Mexico) is represented by those lovable Democrats that once they are elected do nothing for their constituents and all they are interested in is getting elected again

Read "Dr. Leslie Woodcock on Global Warming" via Google. He says "nonsense." I agree.

And I also agree that to have the Government pass more laws, not less, is foolish and is leading us to Socialism. Jim Wright

from an evolutionary point of view, the reason why humans cook food is to start the digestive process so your digestion doesn't have to work as hard-which means more net calories out of stuff. It's why we have smaller stomachs today. Also, cooking kills germs. The supposed nutritional benefits of not cooking your food are more than outweighed by the risks of e coli, salmonella, and other germs/parasites.

Let's see - to reduce greenhouse gases we would have to eat more food raw, eat no beans, broccoli, cabbage, brussells sprouts, lentils, and other crops that require fertilizer and produce methane when digested. Further, we would have to reduce dramatically our use of grains and cereals, which means no more grain-fed cattle, no more ethanol in our fuel. We would have to adopt a diet primarily of wild game.

If the winters get any longer or colder wher I live, not only will we have no growing season for the veggie lovers to grow our food BUT we won't have money left from heating bills to purchase food. All I have to say is : "C'mon GLOBAL WARMING!".
