"Friedman said his answer is a simple, "No." He expounded by saying that the students that would typically benefit from government-subsidized college are middle and upper income groups while the burden to pay falls on everyone, but especially hard on the lower income groups that won't see the same benefits from the program."

But how are you supposed to compete with something given away for free, and then provide the sanction of the victim through your taxes?!

Essentially we are speaking about free tuition or if you consider taxation of these freely educated students then it gets paid back or pay forward...but as it is obviously pointed out...still many are paying that never get educated, not to mention the disparity between the cost of that education between individuals...no matter how "Equal" they try to make it...it never equals out.
Free education is a misnomer but as you know, at the heart of it, it creates a disconnect between effort, ownership, self esteem, self reliance and independence.

The Vrije University and the Libre University (both translate to English as Free) both in Brussels, Belgium are not tuition free but open to all comers world wide. The quality is world class....which means no safe spots - just education

"free" usually equals low quality...not to mention only giving you what They want to give you...denies choice, value and probably discussion.

If free college becomes a reality, I will seriously have to consider a complete shrug instead of just a partial shrug.
