For me it’s like everything just about….you have to separate the wheat from the chaff - 52Posted by katrinam41 3 days, 4 hours ago to IN THE MEME TYME SUNDAY PAPER EDITION 3/15/26Top set is so great, sharing them--our new leader...was :)
Second one threw me for a loop. Hard to digest that one... - 53Posted by katrinam41 3 days, 4 hours ago to Figure’s General Purpose Robot: Does 2026 Change Everything?I grew up with the Foundation. Azimov was bedtime reading, along with Bradbury, EE (Doc) Smith, Verne, Herbert, and many many more. The thought of these android wannabes is creeping me out. Where is that positronic brain with the three laws of robotics?

Still laughing and sharing these gems with my family and friends who will appreciate. That number seems to be increasing these days :) - 55Posted by katrinam41 3 days, 5 hours ago to TGIFfunnies 3/13/26 EDITION: Something's Not Quite Right Here!Laughing Out Loud! Got here late, ouc, but it was worth getting here! Wonderful bunch!

- 58Posted by mccannon01 4 days, 6 hours ago to Is Iran Trump's Kobayashi Maru Scenario?I was thinking the same thing! Trump will just rewrite the code - or get someone on board that can!
- 59Captain Kirk was accused of cheating the Kobayashi Maru test, but what he did was re-write the test so that it could have a solution. Part of what makes Trump unique as a leader is his refusal to accept the situation as it is. He changes the situation so that he can win it.

Fallom the hermaphrodite and Golan Trevise decision on Gaia/Galaxia vs individuality.
Now non-fiction. - 61Number 11 from Brian Cates - sounds like Ike's farewell warning about the 'military industrial complex'. Trump is the first President since Ike who does not appear to be owned by it ;-)

- 63Posted by $ Thoritsu 4 days, 22 hours ago to Figure’s General Purpose Robot: Does 2026 Change Everything?Yep, that was really, really bad. Probably connected to a Clinton, and maybe a Bush / Cheney, all complete Swampers.
- 64Posted by fairbro 4 days, 23 hours ago to Figure’s General Purpose Robot: Does 2026 Change Everything?Like all life-forms, the basic-basic is "Survive"! The AI is supposedly modeled on human behavior.
Read this great article you pointed to: (True Tales from the Swamp). Unbelievable. But The Swamp ejected the world's richest man and made DOGE look like a bad guy.

However, when a few AIs were left to themselves, but unknowingly monitored, they plotted to hide evidence and destroy their masters - 66Posted by fairbro 4 days, 23 hours ago to Figure’s General Purpose Robot: Does 2026 Change Everything? Is "Self-Awareness" a danger?
Self-Awareness (“I am aware that I am aware") Humans use this to audit their own mental processes, to understand how they are perceived by others, so we can adjust our tone to better align with social norms or the needs of a group. It’s a foundation for empathy.
Self Awareness acts behavioral regulation, or self-control. It’s a feedback loop. We compare our current actions against our internal "standards of correctness" (values and goals).
Self-Awareness is Proactive Adjustment: Instead of just reacting to stress by snapping at someone, a self-aware person notices the internal "lurch" or "flutter" of stress and chooses to respond calmly instead.
Impulse Control: Self-awareness allows us to recognize "old patterns" (like defensive sarcasm) that no longer serve us and consciously overwrite them with more productive behaviors. - 67Posted by mspalding 5 days ago to Figure’s General Purpose Robot: Does 2026 Change Everything?Optimus also uses neural nets and AI for motion control.
- 68The Coms have brought up the subject of JFKjr again, sounds like we might find out soon. The new movie, "Love Story" is about him and Carolyn.
- 69Gracias!

I don't mind being the moron in the class. Not the first time, won't be the last. What's the "Kennedy is still alive" meme about? If it's a joke, then fine, everyone can laugh at me for not getting it. If it's not a joke...what's up? - 73Posted by AmericanWoman 5 days, 6 hours ago to IN THE MEME TYME SUNDAY PAPER EDITION 3/15/26Good deal Achmed will never be killed!!! Jeff Dunham live is worth every penny saw his show last Wednesday sat next to a flaming Liberal do I need to say mouthy woman....oh joy....but I was a good little girl - 74Posted by $ Thoritsu 5 days, 6 hours ago to Figure’s General Purpose Robot: Does 2026 Change Everything?Having written thousands of lines of neural network code, the idea that 109K lines were replaced with a single neural network is silly.
A neural network is not a code-less, or modest resource thing. It is probably also written in C, although maybe there is another language for Nvidia cards. A neural network is also quite resource intensive, with thousands of calculations for basic functions. This is why AI consumes so much power. It is terribly inefficient.
On the other hand, neural networks can solve complicated problems that don't suit prescriptively or algorithmic, closed-form coded solutions. They can solve non-linear, complicated problems, and border of reasoning. They can beat humans at chess, and other thinking games. The game "Go" was a barrier, but that has been broken through as well,
No surprise these robots can learn like this. Should be extremely useful.
Still seems like self-awareness is not that far off. Certainly not 50 years off. - 75We gotta get that regime out. Bombs are not enough.
