Reality is going to win with the Wuhan virus (and life will go on)

"Many people have no sense of where this is headed, and I understand why. They've been betrayed by a hysterical media that insists on covering each new reported case as if it were the first case. Every headline today drips with dread, as the next doomed hotspot approaches the next "grim milestone." They're paralyzed by the rising numbers because the numbers have no context. They don't know where it will end.

Fact is, we the people can accept almost anything if we’re given the facts, and enough time to get evaluate the risk and make our own decisions. Last year in this country, there were six million traffic accidents and 36,000 fatalities. Tragic, for sure. But imagine for a moment if no one had ever died from a car accident. Imagine if this year, America endured six million traffic accidents and 36,000 fatalities...for the first time ever. Now, imagine if these accidents and fatalities - over 16,000 and 90 per day respectively - imagine if they were reported upon like every new incidence of COVID. What would that do to our willingness to drive? For a while, I suspect it would keep us all off the roads, right?
---------------------------------------------------------
That is exactly right. A short shutdown would have allowed hospitals to get their ducks in a row for handling patients. Everything else we’ve been through has been hysterical insanity.

Leftists, who are historical ignoramuses, love pointing to the Spanish Influenza in 1918 as proof that we’re all going to die unless our country is shut down until the day after the presidential election in November. The two are not the same.

    Oh!
    ---
    Late stage. There are-
    1. Dexamethasone, a generic steroid
    2. Remestemcel-L, Mesoblast
Both experimental, some fair success, not expensive but may be hard to get, and may not be 'approved' for use. .

My dad is appears to be dying from COVID now. Tested positive. Now on ventilator in an ICU. It hit fast.

Regarding the gist of this thread...Try not to watch the news very much. It doesn't help. Learn how to bolster your immune system. My dad and I debated each other for years on that. Then he came down with myasthenia gravis and he started agreeing with me. Too late, though. The damage had been done. Now, he's probably going to die. His wife apparently came down with it a week ago and it was just a day of mild fever and fatigue for her.

I knew early on when I was studying this virus before it officially made landfall here that most of us would lose somebody close to us from it. Most people in American will actually get it. It was either going to die off like the last SARS pandemic, or kick our asses.

    Enjoy the day, my friends.

Media hasn't been honest in living memory, and probably much longer. They used to be better at hiding their dishonesty though.
The online social sites should be shut down for censorship. Yes, destroy the billion$ that they are using to take individual liberty from honest people.

If only the media was more honest, not so sensational to get ratings, to follow the leftest mantra.
I here no news on all the false positives, the tendency of hospitals and testing facilities to fudge the numbers...if "we the public" heard about these things...we would never again, allow shutdowns to take place.

I work at a Hospice facility and we were willing to take covid patients from yale...we got 3 and none of them actually had covid, we tested them and obviously yale never did.
We've had No Covid in our building, not even visitors which averages these days at around 100 per day, more lately as we have eased up on visiting restrictions.

I read an article (don't know if it was correct) that the Spanish Flu killed more healthy people than unhealthy people?????

More people are probably dying and wounded in Chicago from gunshot wounds than the virus each day. At least a close second.

It is estimated that about 500 million people or one-third of the world's population became infected with this virus. The number of deaths was estimated to be at least 50 million worldwide with about 675,000 occurring in the United States.
2.475 billion people would need to contract Covid19 to have an equivalent amount infected to the Spanish Flu.

A very good man I know just died. The hospital hurriedly let everyone know it wasn't from COVID.
He was 92 and his great big heart just stopped beating. N

We now have a new way to die, and we are just going to have to live with it. The odds are astronomically in our favor.
