I agree to extent. However the concept of America was predicated on the individual negating the need for government because of his/her own values installed be his/her own personal beliefs, at that time Christian beliefs.

At first I wondered if these Muslims think the UK is going to hell, why don't they all go back to the wasteland they came from. There are two answers and #1 is obvious.
#2 They dream of a worldwide caliphate, the elimination of all competing religions and worldly distractions and the redistribution of everything.
While I was watching Alabama beat Florida on TV last Saturday, I was imaging all the guys wearing beards and all the gals wearing burkas. Wait! Would college football be a worldly distraction for them?
Maybe they'd rather play polo with human heads. Seems I read a historical something about that a good while back.

The only three entities that have ever mattered in human history are Individuals, Governments, and Religions. For the greatest part of human history Governments and Religions have singly or in concert dominated and decimated the Individual. What defines the American civilization is the enshrinement of the Individual as superior to the Government (through the Constitution) and Religion (via the 1st Amendment) . Now after 227 years, the Individual is again under attack. America is dying because a growing majority will not speak out for or fight for their Individual Rights. It doesn't matter which Religion or what type of Government delivers the coup d'etat.

Europe's response to Muslim incursion has been pretty wimpy. England and France have practically given up trying to control them, Spain and Germany not too much better. I'm afraid that with the increasing trend toward P.C. it may come to this here. I hope not, but it seems that very few have the courage of the lady in the red dress.

Yes. I agree - the worth of life is one of the major differences between extremists and civilized people. (But I suspect that Medieval Christians might have tended towards the 'meatbomb' side of the line. It was a Christian who said, "Kill them all; God will know his own.")

one MAJOR difference...we value life, our children above almost everything. Whereas muslims appear value life far less, using their children as meatbombs to make their statements AND gain access to their idea of heaven.

I would agree except for the 'have been'. Both of those religions have been aggressive and have converted by the sword in the past (Charlemagne conversion of the Fresians; the mass conversion of the Russians). There was a principle in the late Renaissance called "Cuius regio, eius religio", which meant that 'whoever was king of a region - the people had to follow his religion'. If a region was conquered by someone of a different religion, then the whole 'country' converted - or else!. (And this was as recent as the 17th century!)

So we (our culture) is not that far away from 'conversion by the sword'.

I agree with you and with your history. The parallels between modern the modern Muslim religion and the Catholic Church of the Inquisition are incredible. I would note that the Inquisition was at its most violent during the social changes that accompanied the industrial revolution (and printing press) and the Protestant reformation - times when there was great social change and when the Church felt endangered.

It must be terrible to be part of an oppressive, primitive religion and know that your children are watching TV and movies and surfing the internet any time they are out of your sight...

Having reactionary religions impeding our society is like trying to win a sailing race whilst dragging a sea-anchor behind your ship.
