Oh, folks, I am so sad and overcome by the wrong facts, muddy thinking, assumptions, false optimism and general....Government Supporters [the worst words I know] on FB. I went to check on a sale, looked at my own timeline, and literally felt like I'd been slugged in the stomach.
Paramoia [and its more popular cousin, paraNoia] is only crazy if they're not after you, and after us they are.
If they'd only leave us alone.......

Your post fits for my family as well. But, its family and we are spread out all over the country, so, its a way of seeing whats going on.
The twitter post had me LOL. Thanks for that much needed belly laugh.
    Thanks, winterwind.

The majority of the people who make me a combination of crazy and sad on FB ARE my family. My former students can [because they are my former students] think, and often do.
Those who use twitter are referred to in my universe as twits.

Don't use twitter, never have. Too much crap. FB is pretty much in limbo in my life. Use it to connect to family who still use it. Oh well.

One reason I cancelled my Twitter account...

Yep... FB is often a sewage line for anyone who wants to spew their garbage into the blogoverse.

I played on current.com for a year or two against the likes of "Jan4Gore" and "Verotchka" who, amongst others, had Warmite juice flowing through their veins instead of logic or hemoglobin. Many religious Believers in groups at Linked In were much the same.

But that seems to be the way 'the rest of them' "think" nowadays, so they are common watering holes for conspiracy theorists and loons.

Now, if I can get my OCD games off my PC, I'll write a few books on several subjects... just to piss off nearly everyone.

    :)

I just added The Fountainhead to my Netflix queue
and moved it up to the #5 spot. I have over 400 DVD movies in line. It's good to be retired.

    Well wind,
What we are looking at is the cumulative effect of liberal education, exponentially increased by 40 years of liberal policies.
If you want a better example of this, try this factoid: Taylor Swift Fans made 8 seconds of White Noise a number one hit today. It was actually a recording flub, but all those people paid 1.99 for it!

    1. Read anything by Rand.
    2. Rent (or buy if you can) a copy of The Fountainhead.
    3. Take a cold shower.
    4. Plan B:
    Close Facebook account
    5. Plan C:
    Start your own blog.
    6. Plan D:
Get a party together and go see A.S. 3 and a nice dinner afterwards.
    7. Plan E.
    All of the above.

I did 'The Big Logout" back in February. However, I've since realized that it is futile and pointless. Let me 'splain Lucy... Within a few weeks, the account had been restored. Apparently many of the services I use kept certain account relationships alive, and that accessing those accounts caused the FB account to revive. Which is what they said would happen if I chose to logon again.

I don't delete the data and the account because there are some old items that I'd like to retain. However I don't use the blue finger of death anymore, I just allow them to serve the data I choose to provide.

Who wins? I dunno. They get a *tiny* bit of tracking information on me, but no advertizing revenue. I get to store data on their servers, while suffering excruciatingly difficult access to it. Decision: DRAW...

Old dino has always shunned such things as FB and Twitter. All I have to do is watch Watter's World on the O'Reilly Factor to realize I am surrounded by idiots. How y'all think Obummer got elected twice? Hm?
I like it in the Gulch, though.
The following is my alternate post or what I first thought to write here--
An allosaur does not want to show his face on FB. That would defeat the whole idea of being an ambush predator.

I shut down both my FB page and my Twitter account about 3 months ago. I simply got tired of trying to educate folks that just don't want to be educated. It turns out that you can lead a horse to water but unfortunately you will drown it before you can make it drink!!

    you're welcome. and thank you.
it's not amazing, but it is wonderful, that there is a Rand statement for every situation, every moment.

"She wondered what had been his purpose tonight - and noticed that he had, perhaps, accomplished it. He had carried her over the worst moment, he had given her an invaluable defense against despair - the knowledge that a living intelligence had heard her and understood." -AR
