Disagree with town government, they send a tank after you. It's so great to live in a 'free' country.

Someone in another post today commented that they had 'faith' in their police force. Here's your faith.

"When officials in the tiny Town of Stettin in Marathon County went to collect a civil judgment from 75-year-old Roger Hoeppner this month, they sent 24 armed officers.

And an armored military vehicle."

They didn't have a warrant for his arrest - it was a civil debt. Only collection of equipment or valuable equipment.

Did you notice that the real estate company doesn't advertise the tax burden in the price of the house?

Yeah, but $86,000 for a messy yard seems a bit much. At least he's still alive, they did take the cuffs off of him once he agreed to go straight to the bank, then they cut $6000 off since they didn't have to haul equipment off. And oh yeah, this was the second time, so they were good enough the first time to leave him some equipment for them to come after the second time.

But I bet he understands his position now.

it's a hell of a nation where you feel that you have to
cower at home with self-defense weapons, trying to
be ready for whatever the government might threaten
to do ....... where are we headed with this?

the engineer analyzes the ultimate effectiveness
of a design, attempting to ensure that only good
comes of it ... our society is attempting to ensure
that only bad comes of our current design actions. -- j

Let me rephrase a section of this article

People don't understand it but the use of overwhelming force is almost a necessity these days.

Yes a light tank is bit overwhelming against a 70 year old man that wont leave his house. Guess he would like his house to not be knocked over by his government that exists to "protect and serve" him. Well not him just those that agree with and will pretend civility with them.

When I saw this I immediately thought about posting it too. This is a tiny town. If you blink while driving you will miss it. What is a little town like this needing a armored vehicle? Whith that said keep in mind that the man's yard in a subdivision looks like crap with old wooden pallets stacked high all over the place. It is an eye sore with some of the video I have seen on TV But an armored vehicle to arrest a 75 year old? Is this really needed?

When the police are militarized to this extent the distinction is virtually non existent. So much for Posse Comitatus... One of the enumerated reasons for starting the revolution was the abhorrence of standing armies among the people.
When a couple of policeman could pick up the man quietly when he goes to his mail box, or off the street when shopping, they choose to come in with olive drab armored vehicles, military style garb, weapons and tactics ... All the better to intimidate the rest of the populace.

It is now in the hands of armed citizens to take care of business. Do those jack booted Gestapo thugs sleep well at night?? Time to plaster this and their faces over every available media outlet, as they are the REAL criminals!

The fact that this is what was resorted to in order to collect, (rob), the elderly man of his hard earned savings, is the worst sort of shakedown I've seen in a long time. Civil disobedience in order, people!

Finally get that 30 year mortgage paid off and think you now own your house, land?......
Fixed income and can no longer afford the spiraling property tax ?.......
The taxmen can help you with that, they will just come, kick you out, and take back THEIR house.
