You mean SCOTUS? There will always be bad police but this is SCOTUS upholding their actions as well as laws of state and local jurisdictions that previously would have been seen as fundamental violations of the Bill of Rights.

I agree they are being vilified now. Rightly so in a few cases but mostly unwarranted. The vast majority of officers are good people that don't abuse their power but the more people put them in a godly view the more abuse there will be. It goes to their head. And it only takes a few bad apples to make the whole profession look bad.

Again, I am not saying that we should not thank them for doing their job just like we thank others for doing theirs and we are thanked for doing business with someone. I am saying that putting them on a pedestal will only end in more vilification.

This is what happens when any person or go up of people become worshipped. It really doesn't matter what group, they become too powerful. Be it the athlete, celebrity, police, fire department or politician. It is a rare individual that can be put on a pedestal and not take advantage of the situation. All we need to look to is the reaction of the people of Boston when the bomber was caught. There is a huge difference in being thankful to someone that did their job and lining the street with applauds for the same purpose.
