I found this to be quite true. I have done some cutting off of "diseased limbs", if you will. It is cathartic.

    It seems to imbue ones family with a sense that because they ARE family, the abuse, (not to their minds), is acceptable. It is however a grave fallacy.

    Because our culture teaches us to "turn the other cheek", especially when it's family. In more than one case, family members thought that the fact that they were family meant that they could use and abuse me while I was supposed to do my best to please them.
    I figured it out pretty early, probably because of Rearden's family.
