This a link to the bill that passed the house yesterday.

This a link to the Senate version. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c1...

I read somewhere that some senators may try to actually attach an amendment basically nullifying the bill. Anyone concerned should probably take the time to find out where their senators stand on this and lean on them hard, especially if they are up for reelection this fall. More than likely Harry reid will try to suppress a vote until after the elections.

It seems this being muddled in with the Marketplace Fairness Act which would mandate that online businesses collect sales taxes for the jurisdiction from which each purchase is made. It is my understanding from the article that this bill which passed the HoR (lol) prohibits states and localities from taxing internet access.

Actually it might get through the senate without issue. After all it only stops State and Local governments from taxing it, not the feds.

I guess they felt they get enough from us by gathering just about everything we do on the web. There is no way Reid will let "new" opportunity for a revenue stream (and associated regulation) pass by without a fight.

I doubt that it will survive the Senate. Politicians want to tax everything. As Will Rogers once said
"The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn't get worse every time Congress meets".
