Putin has been in power for a very long time, giving him a long history to be examined. He is fanatical about holding power, but you cannot hold power if you are dead or if the country you control becomes worthless. As is the case with bullies, he thrives on the fears of others. You handle bullies by standing up to them. If you do not stand up to them, they take more and more until you are their slave.

Those are pretty safe bookends. Can’t disagree.

If I were trump, I would say a few things to Putin-
1) This Ukraine war is hurting Russia, USA, and Ukraine, as well as Europe.
2) It was a mistake for the USA to prod Russia and fight a potential ally on behalf of a country where we had nothing to gain, and it was a mistake for Russia to expect that Ukraine would simply fall in a few days.
3) Ukraine is pretty much destroyed and is not of value to anyone, least of all the Ukrainian people. Russia spent billions and is hated, so did the USA. And what did either of us get.....
4) If Russia pulls back its forces from some disputed areas, and The USA will vote against whats left of Ukraine entering NATO and the war is OVER
5) USA and Russia should cooperate in the future, as we dont have any desire to invade or harm Russia.
