Hagel was the only "R" the administration, perhaps I should say the last "r"., but probably the only "R" that tried to get along with Obama and his team. I assumed he was one of the people you referred to when you said Obama was "cleaning out anyone that might oppose him politically in even the smallest sense" since he is the only other cabinet member to resign recently. And, I should note, your opinion that Hagel was replaced because Obama wants to replace him with an "appeas[er]" seems backwards from the political reality. Hagel internally opposed ramping up the intervention in Iraq, Syria and Afganistan. Look for him to replaced by a more hawkish type who will go along with increasing the number of American "boots on the ground" there.

No, the real danger today could be the EMP (electromagnetic pulse) that occurs when a nuclear weapon is set off, especially at high altitudes.

No radioactive fallout to speak of, but EVERY electronic gizmo, from your PC to the computers in your cars to every computer remotely related to your life can have its little electronic brain permanently fried.

And you'd need electronic gizmos to create the repair parts... think about that impact.

China and maybe North Korea could do that; Mideast Loons, not so much. I don't think China would see any sense in doing that, other than maybe shipping a billion or so of their citizens over here to repopulate the US and Canada after we all kill each other rioting for food, clothing and shelter, but NK... not so much. He's probably going to send his people over there to appease the people that hate us. This is a sick world and something needs to be done to change it's direction. His appointee this time will be someone that totally agrees with his agenda of appeasement. All they have to do is lie to get confirmed and then they can do whatever he (BO) wants.

you are missing nothing. what you have just described is what is in fact taking place in the nation. therefore the question to ask is what do we the people do about it? at this point i give up.
